Barcelona Shipping Law Forum

WITH less than two months to go, the Barcelona Shipping Law Forum (OPUS 2002) is gathering pace.

To be held at the Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel in Barcelona on December 9, 2002, it serves as the perfect excuse to avoid all that Christmas shopping.

That is, of course, unless you are a lawyer, shipowner or insurer, in which case you will be there to discuss the hot topics up for discussion - ship arrest and security, litigation, arbitration and ADR, carriage of goods by sea, terrorism and salvage. The forum is divided into four sessions. Each session will end with a debate, with delegates invited and encouraged to express their opinions and concerns to a panel of experts.

Hosted by Barcelona lawyer Ignacio de Ros, organised by Mare Forum, and supported by The Maritime Advocate, the one-day forum has attracted expert speakers from all corners of the industry. Among those involved in the forum are representatives from Watson, Farley & Williams, Ince & Co, the International Underwriters' Association, AKD Prinsen Van Wijmen, CMI, Dabelstein & Passehl, the North of England P&I Club, the Barcelona Port Authority, Schut & Grosheide, the SMA, and the LMAA, to name but a few.

And if that's not enough to lure you, the social programme certainly will.
