SIMON Moss has joined Waterson Hicks' shipping litigation team in London. Moss has extensive experience in dry shipping litigation acting for owners and charterers in a wide variety of disputes. The third solicitor to join the firm in recent months, Moss brings with him a number of shipowning clients.

Pardini & Associates

PANAMA law firm Pardini & Associates has appointed Roy Phillips as counsel specialised in maritime law. Phillips is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced maritime lawyers in Panama, and has litigated in front of the Panama Canal Commission, the old Canal Zone Court, and, most recently, before the Panama maritime courts in several landmark cases.

The Swedish Club

THE Swedish Club has made three new appointments at its Gothenburg headquarters. Fredrik Olsson has joined the Claims & Legal Support Department as a claims executive. A maritime lawyer, Olsson joins from marine underwriter Sampo of Gothenburg, where he was a marine cargo claims adjuster.

Gert Josefsson has joined the Loss Prevention and Technical Department as a staff surveyor. A qualified marine engineer, he joins from Wärtsilä, where he worked for eleven years, most recently as marine sales manager. Cleopatra Georgantzi has also joined the club as a claims executive. With over five years' experience in claims handling, Georgantzi has specialist knowledge of cargo and FD&D cases.

Courtois & Finkelstein

AFTER more than ten years at Clyde & Co, including five as a partner, Bertrand Courtois has set up his own law office in Paris along with Nathalie Finkelstein. The new firm, Courtois & Finkelstein, will offer a full range of legal services, including shipping, P&I, FD&D, insurance, reinsurance, subrogation, cargo recovery, product liability, commercial litigation and arbitration, French private international law, insolvency and debt collection.

GLENN Winter has become senior partner at Holmes Hardingham Walser Johnston Winter. He succeeds Adrian Hardingham, who continues as a partner. Both were among the founding partners of the London-based practice, which was established in 1989.

Holman Fenwick & Willan

FOLLOWING 18 months at the Singapore office of Holman Fenwick & Willan, Andrew Grey has joined the firm's Hong Kong office. Grey takes over from Jim Cashman, who is returning to the firm's office in London. Grey joined Holman Fenwick & Willan following eleven years in the Royal Navy. Since then he has been involved in a number of collision, salvage and total loss claims as well as charter party and contractual cases.

Rayfield Mills

RAYFIELD Mills, a UK-based firm of solicitors specialising in maritime and international trade law, has opened a new office in London. The eight-partner firm was formed in 1993 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Robert Joiner, a founding partner, says, "Over the coming months we look forward to enjoying closer working relationships with our many existing London-based clients and to increasing our presence in the London market generally." Joiner will head up the new office with Barry Young, also a founding partner.
