Staying green
THE arrival of the internet poses a real threat for traditional publishing. No sooner has a textbook been printed than it's out of date. One of the latest offerings from the Informa Publishing Group appears to have found a way round this problem. Marine Environment Law, by barristers John H Bates and Charles J W Benson, has been published in loose-leaf format. With the law changing so frequently, at least two updating supplements each year will provide the latest and updated material. But at a budget-breaking £405/US$688/HK$5370, what exactly do you get for your money?
Among the subject areas are marine environment law, pollution from ships, offshore installations and pipelines, land-based sources and seabed activities. Civil liability for oil pollution from ships, pollution from harmful substances other than oil, the dumping of waste at sea, and the conservation of marine species are also covered. But in case you aren't happy with what you receive, Informa Publishing is offering a risk-free trial - convey your dissatisfaction within thirty days and it will refund your payment in full.
